How can you ensure that you have access to the internet during power outages? Our IT specialists have prepared several tips and solutions to help you stay connected.

First, check with your internet service provider to see if your address is connected to fiber optic internet.

If Fiber Optic Internet is Available at Your Address

To access the internet, you will need:

  • 2 power cables (USB-DC 12V)
  • 2 power sources (power banks or charging stations)

First, purchase two power cables — one for your router and another for the subscriber terminal. The subscriber terminal is a small device in a plastic housing installed in your apartment or house.

Second, purchase two devices to power your router and subscriber terminal during outages. These can be power banks or charging stations (like EcoFlow). The power bank should have a capacity of at least 20,000mAh.

You can buy these items at most electronics stores.

Connect the router and subscriber terminal to the power source (either the power bank or charging station) using the cables.

Remember to keep your power bank or charging station charged, connect it as soon as the power goes out, and disconnect it once the power is restored.

If Fiber-Optic Internet is Not Available but Your Provider Can Install It

Contact your provider to order this service, and they will install a cable in your home that can be connected directly to your computer or to a router (if you need internet on multiple devices). In the latter case, you will also need to connect your router to a power source (power bank or charging station) using the appropriate power cable.

If Your Provider Does NOT Use Fiber-Optic Internet and CANNOT Install It

First, consider switching to a provider that offers fiber optic service.

Alternatively, you can use a 4G modem. For this, you need the modem itself and a SIM card of any operator with unlimited data. The modem acts as a Wi-Fi router. You simply connect to the modem’s network via the menu ? / . Since the modem has a built-in battery, it operates independently, but be sure to charge it whenever electricity is available.
