Activists from Zaporizhzhia were trained to work on solving IDPs’ housing problems

On January 27, representatives of initiative groups, members of IDP Councils of Zaporizka oblast took part in two online trainings aimed at strengthening the capacity of IDP initiative groups to engage in solving housing problems.

The first training, How Policy is Made, focused on the general vision of the policy cycle, preparation for the process of finding solutions and their subsequent advocacy. In particular, they talked about the effective combination of efforts of the public sector and the state to solve the problem of lack of housing for IDPs.

The objective of the second training Local Advocacy Tools was to help the participants understand how to solve housing and other problems of IDPs, in particular, they learned more about advocacy tools that will allow them to effectively interact with the authorities to solve housing problems of IDPs.

In addition, the participants dwelt on the urgent housing problem in Zaporizka oblast and jointly shaped the goal, objectives and measures on how to overcome this problem. 

This work resulted in a Roadmap created for future activities of the IDP Council and initiative groups in Zaporizka oblast. In the future, the participants will implement the developed measures in their region.
