CF SSS at the International Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin

From June 10 to 12, the Foundation’s Executive Director, Valeriia Vershynina, and the Director of Humanitarian Programs, Anna Borysova, attended the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024). In addition to the main conference program, our representatives participated in meetings with international donors and organizations aimed at finding new partners and projects to expand activities in the field of social protection in Ukraine.

During the first three days of the event, Valeriia and Anna engaged in strategic networking meetings with the international humanitarian organization CARE, the Government of Denmark, and the Representation of North Rhine-Westphalia. Upcoming meetings are planned with the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Red Cross Society.

Valeriia Vershynina stated, “At the URC2024 conference, we had an excellent opportunity to discuss with international partners the importance of building an inclusive and effective social protection system in Ukraine. The active phase of the war continues, so we must simultaneously plan recovery measures and continue to protect people suffering from hostilities. Our Foundation constantly works on attracting resources to provide humanitarian aid to people and support institutions that directly ensure social protection in Ukraine.”

Anna Borysova added, “Every day, civil society organizations do incredible work, but equally important is the ability to pause and discuss new tasks, challenges, and ways of coordinating with partners to ensure the most effective assistance to all those in need — both the people affected by the war and the government, which continues to improve the social protection and support system. This was the focus of every event and meeting this week.”

The key goal of URC2024 is to consolidate sustainable international support for Ukraine’s recovery, rebuilding, reforming, and modernization. This involves emergency assistance to meet urgent needs, the implementation of rapid recovery projects, the creation of attractive conditions for business and private investments, and the active involvement of civil society in the reconstruction processes.

URC2024 continues the cycle of annual high-level events dedicated to the rapid recovery and long-term restoration of Ukraine, which have been held since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
