As a part of the Winterization and Resilience: CARE Ukraine initiative, we are on the brink of initiating the restoration of residences damaged by the Russian invasion.
In preparation for the approaching winter, we plan to complete 200 restoration projects in Kharkivska Oblast, another 200 in Dnipropetrovska Oblast, and 125 in Zaporizka Oblast. Thus far, we have signed 67 contracts with beneficiaries, and their homes are due for restoration as part of this project. We still have a significant task ahead: our project engineers continue taking measurements of damaged properties, and numerous contracts with beneficiaries are in the pipeline.
The territorial communities where we plan to restore housing as part of this project have most of their damaged homes located in Izium, a de-occupied city in the Kharkivska Oblast. Maksym Strelnyk, a representative of the Izium City Military Administration, and also one of the many whose homes were damaged during the Izium occupation, observes, “The central part of Izium suffered the most damage. To ensure that people have access to heating and can live comfortably in their apartments during winter, it is crucial to enhance energy efficiency. This means restoring all windows. For this purpose, light and medium repairs that can be completed promptly are of utmost importance.”
The Winterization and Resilience: CARE Ukraine Program project is spearheaded by the Charity Foundation Stabilization Support Services and is supported by the humanitarian organization CARE.Ukraine.
