We continue our efforts to provide new equipment to social protection institutions in target communities across Ukraine.
Notably, in late August, our regional teams visited Vesnianska and Bashtanska communities in Mykolaivska Oblast and delivered modern equipment to local social protection departments. Each institution received sets of equipment to equip three workplaces: laptops, multifunctional print and scan devices, ink cartridges, Wi-Fi routers, uninterruptible power supplies, surge protectors, external hard drives, and stationery sets.
“Now the employees of social protection departments will have more comfortable working conditions. The people who apply to them will receive services faster, which is extremely important for all of us today,” comments Olena Kapliy, regional coordinator.
At the beginning of the full-scale war, the situation with IDP registration in the communities was difficult.
“We had to register a large number of people and submit their documents for IDP living allowance as quickly as possible. It took a lot of time due to outdated computer equipment, power outages, disruptions in access to the Internet and the Sotsialna Hromada (Social Community) program. The department’s experts worked around the clock as they registered people during the day and processed documents at night,” says Larysa Havryliuk, head of the social protection department in the Bashtanska territorial community.
There are currently 5,168 registered IDPs in the Vesnianska community and 3,480 in the Bashtanska community.
“Replacing the old and bulky computer equipment with modern new ones will considerably ease the work of social protection employees, which will certainly affect the trust of people who apply to the department. It’s a pleasure to work with this equipment,” says Alla Zaloha, head of the social protection department at the Vesnianska territorial community.
We procure and deliver equipment to communities as part of the project Supporting the Capacity of the Social Protection System to Register Internally Displaced Persons, funded by the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
