Last fall, during one of the shellings of the town of Apostolove in Dnipropetrovska Oblast, the windows in Rayisa’s house were shattered. One shell hit the window directly, the second fell through the ceiling, and the shockwave smashed three more windows. The pensioner recalls that the foundation of the house was also cracked, and the roof slate was damaged.
“Then we covered the windows with plastic wrap and cardboard boxes, and then the team of the Charitable Foundation came to us, took measurements, and installed new PVC windows. It helped us survive the cold,” says Rayisa.
The woman contacted the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services”. This is how our team, as part of the project CARE Ukraine Winterisation and Resilience Program, met with Rayisa, inspected the damage, took measurements, and replaced the windows.
Raisa will turn 63 this year and is taking care of her sick husband. The family lives in a detached house in the town of Apostolove. According to the woman, they can hear explosions almost every day.
“Cluster munitions reach here, and recently, we heard a missile flying overhead at night,” she says.
The project CARE Ukraine Winterisation and Resilience Program is being implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” with the support of the humanitarian organization CARE.Ukraine.
