Distribution of Bedding Kits in Kherson

This past week marked the commencement of our bedding set distribution effort for the citizens of Kherson. This initiative provided the local residents with essential bedding items, including mattresses, blankets, and pillows. The mattresses, in particular, were a significant relief for many, as they offer a quick and easy solution to create additional sleeping areas or comfort areas for children in shelters during bombardments.

“Immediately following the New Year, we initiated the distribution process in Kherson. Consistently, we’ve observed that people are joyful and appreciative of our aid. This distribution was notably tense, as there was an airstrike alarmingly close to our location, practically just beyond the fence,” recounts Anna Vasylenko, the project manager.

The plan was to continue these distributions in the following days, but adverse weather conditions, including heavy snowfall, black ice, and strong winds, necessitated a postponement.

The aid is delivered as part of the project titled “Lifesaving and Gender-Sensitive Shelter and Protection Assistance for Conflict-Affected Populations in Dnipropetrovska Oblast in Eastern Ukraine As Well As Rapid Emergency Support to Affected Population in Khersonska Oblast in Southern Ukraine (Destruction of the Kakhovka Dam).” This project is being implemented by CF SSS and the international humanitarian organization CARE, with financial backing from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

The project has successfully facilitated the distribution of non-food items, hygiene supplies, and thermal underwear.
