We continue our meetings with social protection institutions, during which we supply them with new equipment for their workplaces.
Recently, our regional team visited three localities in Chernihivska Oblast. The Department of Social Protection, Family, Youth, and Health of the Mena City Council received 2 sets of modern equipment; the Department of Social Protection, Family, and Labor of the Novhorod-Siverskyi City Council got 4 sets, while the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Chernihivska Oblast Military Administration was provided with 1 set.
Every set comprises laptops, multifunctional print-scan devices, ink cartridges, Wi-Fi routers, uninterrupted power sources, surge protectors, external drives, and office stationery.
Christian Langehenke and Aliona Honcharova, representatives of UNHCR, were present during the equipment handover to the Department of Social Protection of the Chernihivska Oblast Military Administration.
As of now, Chernihivska Oblast has 70,233 registered IDPs. Iryna Kulyk, the regional coordinator, highlighted that the Social Protection Department of the Chernihivska Oblast Military Administration remains in close contact with raion social protection units and local communities. They offer legal, organizational, and methodological support. The escalating demands make the equipment refresh very crucial.
Valentyna Luhova, Director of the Social Protection Department of Chernihivska Oblast Military Administration, noted, “Thank you for supporting us. We are now restructuring the department. The new equipment will be used by the specialists of the Department for Internally Displaced Persons. We haven’t updated our equipment in the last 10 years, and the speed of processing documents and transferring information is very important today.”
“The Novhorod-Siverska community is a border community that is constantly under shelling. Currently, 2,612 IDPs live there,” said Iryna Kulyk.
Serhiy Polyvoda, case manager of the executive committee of the Novhorod-Siverskyi City Council added that, “In a community that is constantly under enemy fire, working efficiently and providing social services is important. Improved technical resources will help reduce the risk of data loss during power outages. New laptops and uninterruptible power supplies allow us to complete our work and save data after a power outage.”
In the Menska community, which houses 3,280 IDPs, relocation from the neighboring Chernihivska Oblast localities is a trend.
Maryna Moskalchuk, in charge of the Department of Social Protection, Family, Youth, and Healthcare of the Mena City Council, stated, “The new equipment will be used by the chief and leading specialists. They work directly with IDPs, including registering IDPs for assistance. Our specialists also collect and update statistical data on IDPs. The new equipment will help us work with greater efficiency.”
In Khersonska Oblast, our regional team furnished 12 equipment sets, including laptops, to social protection institutions in Daryivska, Bilozerska, Stanislavska, and Novovorontsovska communities.
Anatoliy Didur, head of Daryivka Village Military Administration, said, “Thank you for your help! It is very effective, as it allows us to provide services to internally displaced persons and people affected by the war more efficiently and with increased quality.”
Oleksandr Babutskyi, head of the Stanislav Village Military Administration, expressed his gratitude, “Thank you! This is not the first time you have helped us! Equipment and devices for our work are more important to us today than ever. Our community is suffering every day, but we are working, and now we will be able to help people more quickly and efficiently.”
We procure and transfer equipment to target communities as part of the project Supporting the Capacity of the Social Protection System to Register Internally Displaced Persons, implemented with the funding of the UN Refugee Agency.
