This May, as a component of our Winterization and Resilience initiative, CARE Ukraine undertook the task of distributing emergency repair kits in regions disrupted by ongoing shellling attacks. The underlying objective of this project is to address urgent humanitarian needs and elevate the standard of living for local residents. We extend our efforts to provide hygiene kits to those affected, enhance living conditions in Collective Centers, and assist in the refurbishment of private residences in anticipation of the coming winter. The targeted communities for our intervention span across the Mykolaivska, Zaporizka, Khersonska, Dnipropetrovska, and Kharkivska oblasts.
An integral aspect of our project is the dispersion of 600 emergency repair kits. The residents of Kherson, a city beleaguered by incessant shelling, were the first beneficiaries of our initiative to help repair homes in the wake of destruction.
Veronika Shevchenko, the Regional Coordinator of the Charity Foundation Stabilization Support Services in Khersonska Oblast, shares, “Predominantly, those with limited income and mobility, who face challenges in evacuating, remain in the city. With the extensive damage, the scarcity of materials for restoration is quite evident, and affordability becomes a significant barrier, considering the steep costs.”
This necessitated our intervention in Kherson, where we furnished humanitarian kits laden with essential items for urgent repairs of damaged residences. The city’s inhabitants greeted the provision of these kits with immense gratitude and appreciation.
The aforementioned details were compiled as part of the “Winterization and Resilience: CARE Ukraine Program,” executed by the Charity Foundation Stabilization Support Services, and backed by the humanitarian organization, CARE.Ukraine.
