The Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” has already helped hundreds of Kherson families with light repairs of homes affected by the war — and continues to help through the Lifesaving Shelter, MPCA, SRH, and Protection Assistance for Conflict-Affected Communities in Rural Hromadas in Mykolaivska and Khersonska Oblasts project.
We continuously stay in touch with those we assist. First, we verify information after the application form is filled out, and then we visit for a preliminary inspection of the damages. Final approvals, measurements, and conclusions are made by experts in specific fields. Afterward, we sign the acceptance certificates and ensure that the families are satisfied with the quality of the repairs.
Long-term communication builds trust. This trust also developed after conversations with Ihor Ivanovych’s family. Their house was damaged when a shell hit the neighboring yard — all the windows were blown out. Some windows had to be completely boarded up with plywood, while others were covered with plastic. The Foundation helped the family restore their windows.
“When the shell hit, my daughter and my three-year-old granddaughter Olya were at home; all the glass fell on them. They still have a hard time dealing with this situation. We sent them to calmer regions of the country for a few months to recover, but they couldn’t stay there long and returned home,” Ihor Ivanovych recalls. “Now, thanks to you, our home is bright again with beautiful windows. We are grateful to you! What matters most is that the windows last a long time now!”
Our Foundation often hears the phrase, “What matters most is that the windows last a long time,” and shares this wish with every family. Now, the new windows in Ihor Ivanovych’s house bring joy to the whole family and little Olya.
The Lifesaving Shelter, MPCA, SRH, and Protection Assistance for Conflict-Affected Communities in Rural Hromadas in Mykolaivska and Khersonska Oblasts project is being implemented by the CO CF SSS in collaboration with the international humanitarian organization CARE, with the support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund. As part of the project, we have already completed the repairs of 103 homes.
