Since early October, we’ve been visiting social protection institutions across 9 oblasts, supplying them with the necessary equipment to set up the workstations for their employees. Social protection departments and divisions in the communities of Donetska, Zakarpatska, Poltavska, Chernihivska, Ivano-Frankivska, Zaporizka, Kharkivska, Zhytomyrska, and Sumska oblasts received modern office equipment.
The equipment sets included laptops, multifunctional devices for printing and scanning, cartridges, Wi-Fi routers, uninterruptible power supplies, surge protector strips, external hard drives, and stationery.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing the efficiency of staff members in the social protection system, enabling them to provide social services, especially to displaced persons, more swiftly and effectively.
“All the departments that received the equipment are extremely grateful, particularly for the printers. Previously, they were using inkjet devices. It took a lot of time to print a document, and if you needed to print on both sides, it was a nightmare. Now, they connected the printers to a shared network using routers. Any employee can send a document for printing and make a copy or scan of many documents in an instant. This significantly increases the efficiency and capacity of the social protection system to register and support internally displaced persons,” elaborates Roman Shyrokykh, the project’s coordinator in Poltavska Oblast.
“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and assistance. Our city is a little bit special, as the City Council sessions hardly ever take place, and no funding is allocated. There is a lot of outdated equipment. We have set up four new workstations in the social assistance department that deals with internally displaced persons. It will help the staff to do their job more efficiently, as they will now be able to exchange data, process it, and serve people faster. Laptops and uninterruptible power supply units will be very helpful during power outages that may occur in winter,” shares Hanna Malysh, head of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Pryluky City Council in Cherkaska Oblast.
We are providing equipment to social protection institutions as part of the project Supporting the Capacity of the Social Protection System to Register Internally Displaced Persons funded by the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
