The team of the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” continues to assist families affected by the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam. Last week, 200 folding beds were distributed to families in the Snihurivsla and Horokhivska communities of Mykolaivska Oblast.
Among those who received assistance was Liubov Pererva from the village of Novovasylivka. She and her husband first endured occupation and then flooding. Their house was submerged under 1.8 meters of water. To reach their yard in the days following the dam’s destruction, they arrived by boat, only to find just the roof visible.
“After the water receded, we started drying the walls and repaired one room to live in our own home. Most of our belongings, including furniture, were flooded. We managed to salvage our damaged sofa by drying and reassembling it. So, these folding beds were much needed for us. Times are tough now, but we hope for better and plan to restore our house next summer fully,” shares Liubov Pererva.
This aid was provided through the Rapid Emergency Support to Affected Population in Khersonska and Mykolaivska Regions in Southern Ukraine, Kherson Flood Response project, implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” with support from the international humanitarian organization CARE. The project further plans to distribute family hygiene and non-food kits among the affected families.
