Food Kits Distributed in Kherson

On the morning of Sunday, June 11, the Charity Foundation Stabilization Support Services successfully managed the distribution of 256 food kits among the residents of Kherson who have chosen to remain within the city.

As Ukraine’s State Emergency Service conducts a large-scale evacuation in response to widespread flooding, those residing in areas less impacted by the man-made disaster are nevertheless in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

Anna Borisova, the Humanitarian Response Director at Charity Foundation Stabilization Support Services, shares her insights on the situation: “Even prior to the catastrophic event at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, we were receving appeals for humanitarian assistance from the locals of Kherson and dutifully responded. Following the occupation, acquiring everyday essentials such as food and hygiene products became an arduous task in the city. Now, the aftermath of the explosion at the dam has compounded these challenges. Fortunately, our capacity to deliver food kits allows people to allocate their resources to take care of other needs.”

Within the framework of our project titled “Addressing the Immediate Multi-Sectoral Humanitarian Needs of IDPs and Conflict-Affected Populations Inside Ukraine”, we have provided 256 food kits, aimed to sustain a family of four for a duration of three months, to those individuals who have decided to stay within the city. Priority was given to those who had their homes damaged by the flooding.

This project is a collective effort in collaboration with the Ukraine Response Consortium, a collective of organizations devoted to addressing the pressing and critical needs of the affected population in Ukraine through multifaceted humanitarian intervention spanning over a year. The initiative is financially backed by the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) of USAID.
