Help For Affected People in Khersonska and Mykolaivska Oblasts: High Level of Needs and Danger

Since the de-occupation, our Foundation has been continuously helping the affected people in Khersonska and Mykolaivska oblasts. The shelling has not stopped; in some places, it has even intensified, but our colleagues continue to work under challenging and dangerous conditions. Very often, those we help say that they value not only the direct assistance but also the very fact that we visit them and do not abandon them.

To ensure the safety of our colleagues and local residents, we employ a security manager who monitors the situation in the regions. If there is a threat of shelling, we postpone the distribution of aid and warn the recipients. In addition, our employees are provided with personal protective equipment such as bulletproof vests, helmets, and first aid kits.

The humanitarian aid we store in these regions is also under constant threat. For example, on December 5, kits for Kherson residents burned to the ground as a result of a targeted Russian attack on the humanitarian warehouse where our aid was being stored. Then, on January 4, a Russian strike hit within 100 meters of one of the warehouses in Mykolaivska Oblast. Fortunately, the non-food items stored there were not damaged and were later distributed to residents of the Snihurivska community.

This assistance was provided through the project Rapid Emergency Support to Affected Population in Khersonska and Mykolaivska Regions in Southern Ukraine, Kherson Flood Response, implemented by the Charitable Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” with the support of the international humanitarian organization CARE. Within the framework of this project, folding beds and hygiene kits have already been distributed. Preparations are underway to set up a social laundry with 10 washing machines and 10 dryers in Kherson.
