Join the free online course on IDPs’ rights and opportunities

Together with our partners IREX in Ukraine, as part of the program CYLA – Cohesion Through Youth-Led Action, and with a coalition of organizations, an online course was developed on Prometheus platform – “What should an internally displaced person know?” Our Advocacy Manager, Valeriia Vershynina, talked about obtaining social and pension payments under martial law and at a new place of residence.

Here’s what else you’ll learn from the course:

  • who are the internally displaced persons and how to register as an IDP;
  • how can the IDPs obtain the necessary documents and state payments;
  • how can the IDPs obtain medical care and educational services;
  • what rights do IDPs have and how to protect them;
  • how can the IDPs integrate into the new community.

The course was developed by the informal Coalition of organizations dealing with issues of protecting the rights of victims of the armed aggression: Donbas SOS, Crimea SOS, Right to Protection, East SOS, Civil holding “GROUP OF INFLUENCE”, ZMINA Human Rights Centre, Crimean Human Rights Group and Stabilization Support Services.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, millions of Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes and became the internally displaced persons (IDPs). People who have just escaped from hot spots or occupation need to find the strength to start a new life in a new place.

However, in addition to the basic stress due to war and displacement, the displaced persons face additional specific challenges. In particular, these are issues related to the loss and recovery of identity documents, lack of housing, work, peculiarities of exercising the right to social protection, obtaining medical services, etc. The course covers all those issues.

It starts on August 4. You can register here: https://cutt.ly/xZj8aYO.
