Mobile Laundry and Bathing Complexes as a Way to Return to Normal Life: What We Know About the New Humanitarian Project

The Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services,” in collaboration with the German humanitarian organization Sign of Hope (SoH), recognizes the value of deploying mobile laundry and bathing complexes in the Mykolaivska and Khersonska oblasts.

As part of this initiative, several such mobile units will visit communities that lack electricity and water. Residents will be able to wash and dry their clothes as well as take a shower. Additionally, the project plans to provide individual hygiene kits to all participants.

“It [the complex] will visit a community for a day and leave for another the next day. This way, we can respond to requests. We can come to the community where it is needed right now and leave when they no longer need it,” said project manager Yuliya Suchok.

Our team aims to ensure that residents of these communities — who live in difficult conditions due to their proximity to the frontline and who struggle to meet basic needs — feel cared for and supported. After all, everyone has the right to a dignified life, even in such challenging times.

It is important to note that the communities in the Mykolaivska and Khersonska oblasts have been severely affected by Russian shelling, resulting in significant infrastructure damage. Private homes are without reliable water and electricity supplies, and after the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, many lost their homes and were forced to seek new accommodations. These are just some of the issues faced by residents of these regions.

The Comprehensive Assistance to Internally Displaced Persons, Non-Displaced Persons Affected by War, and Those Who Returned to Ukraine through the Provision of Protection, Psychosocial and Cash Assistance, Housing, and WASH Services project is being implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” and the German humanitarian organization Sign of Hope, with financial backing from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).
