We continue to make light repairs to the homes of Kherson residents damaged by the war. We have already inspected 180 homes and started repairing windows, doors, and roofs in 50 of them. Ms. Nataliya is also waiting for her windows to be repaired. She works as a teacher and lives with her daughter Olha, a lawyer, in a private house with two owners.
– In early October, the city was under heavy shelling. Our cat, Maksym, is usually very serious, but then he woke up suddenly and started screaming unusually loudly, leaving my daughter’s half of the house and going into mine. Olha saw this, so she picked him up and came to me. Soon after, a Grad rocket hit her half of the house,” Nataliya says. “That is, my daughter was saved by Maksym the cat. Now we really hope for the Foundation’s help.”
The attack damaged the windows, the supporting wall, and the ceiling. Nataliya and Olha have registered for assistance from the Foundation to restore the windows, and we have taken the necessary measurements and are already preparing to replace them.
The repairs are being carried out within the project Lifesaving Shelter, MPCA, SRH, and Protection Assistance for Conflict-Affected Communities in Rural Hromadas in Mykolaivska and Khersonska Oblasts implemented by the CO CF SSS and Kherson NGO “Successful Woman”, in collaboration with the international humanitarian organization CARE, with the support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund.
