“My son drew a sun after we had windows installed,” Oksana

“We lived through the summer with plywood on the windows, the heat was +50. We lived like that for 7 months,” says Oksana (name changed for security reasons), whose apartment in Kryvyi Rih was damaged by shelling. Damaged rooms, a facade with holes through which you could see the street – all this became part of the daily life of the woman’s family.
Oksana and her husband had been looking for an opportunity to get real help for a long time, and in the summer they turned to our foundation for help.
“Fortunately, the foundation replaced the windows in 2 weeks from the moment we applied. When the windows were installed, I sat and cried. I still get emotional when I think about it. We were all happy,” Oksana recalls.
And most of all, her three-year-old son was happy with the installed windows, who, according to Oksana, was afraid to enter the room before because of the most significant damage.

“Dmytro (name changed for security reasons), when he came in after the windows were installed, could not believe it. He looked once, looked again and pointed at them: ‘Mom, look’. And then he drew a sun. It was dark in the apartment without windows, he hadn’t seen the sun for a long time at home, so it was such a joy,” the woman shares.
The photo to this post shows the boy’s drawing, which became a symbol of joy for them from the support they received in restoring their homes.
