On August 4, a large-scale event “Social protection system capacity support in registration of the internally displaced persons” took place in Dnipro city

The event gathered together the representatives of the local self-government bodies administration of Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih cities, the representatives of the Pension Fund, UNHCR, the Passport System departments, Dnipropetrovsk Regional Employment Center, Central Administration of the Social Protection in Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as representatives of Egida-Center, Proliska and Right to Protection public organizations. The representatives of the Charitable Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” took the floor as well.

During the meeting, we discussed the challenges of working with the internally displaced persons, as well as the creation and functioning of IDP Councils. Dnipro is one of the cities that hosts the largest number of internally displaced persons, so during the event we discussed the creation of IDP Council that would ensure the participation of internally displaced persons in decision-making processes. The key task of the event was to discuss the main challenges faced by persons among the IDPs in receiving services and issuance of documents.

The preliminary results of the project in Dnipropetrovsk region were also presented, within the framework of which systematic support is provided to Social Protection departments in improving the procedure of IDPs registration.

Later we will talk about each aspect in more detail.
