The CARE Ukraine Winterisation and Resilience Program project, under which we helped residents of deoccupied territories prepare their homes for winter, has been completed.
After many Ukrainian homes were destroyed as a result of the hostilities, the CF SSS, together with its partners, promptly began to help the affected population with light and medium repairs.
“As part of this important project, we have really improved the living conditions of the residents of this CC [Collective Center] and ensured energy efficiency in their buildings by replacing double-glazed windows and installing modern window systems. New bathrooms, showers, and kitchens make people feel much more comfortable,” said engineer Yuriy Gordon.
During this time, we have been able to repair 588 properties, including private houses, apartment buildings, and collective centers in Khersonska, Zaporizka, and Dnipropetrovska oblasts. Here are our results:
- Iziumska community, Kharkivska oblast: 201 repairs completed;
- Pokrovska community, Dnipropetrovska oblast: 52 repairs completed;
- Apostolivska community, Dnipropetrovska oblast: 34 repairs completed;
- Zaporizka community, Zaporizka oblast: 288 repairs completed.
We installed metal-plastic windows, replaced glass panes and doors, and repaired roofs, kitchens, bathrooms, and showers. We made repairs in 10 CCs: 5 in Zaporizka Oblast, 2 in Kharkivska Oblast, and 3 in Dnipropetrovska Oblast.
“I had two windows replaced that were smashed by a missile that hit near my house. The material of the windows is of very high quality. It made the house warmer,” Yulia, a pensioner from Izium, shared her impressions of the window replacement. “I was most pleased with the fast work. I didn’t even expect them to install everything so quickly.”
In addition to the repairs, the Foundation’s team distributed repair kits for restoring homes and hygiene kits to vulnerable groups to help them overcome the consequences of the Russian invasion.
The CARE Ukraine Winterisation and Resilience Program project has been implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” with the support of the humanitarian organization CARE.Ukraine.
