We continue to support IDP Councils in communities by providing consultations, holding webinars and workshops, and organizing strategic sessions. This support helps IDP Councils strengthen their capacity and work more effectively to advocate for the rights of displaced people in their new communities.

From January to April, we conducted:
? 24 webinars and workshops
One of the main topics was an overview of the Law of Ukraine “On People’s Power at the Level of Local Self-Government” No. 3703-IX. Together with members of the IDP Councils, we discussed the new opportunities it offers. Once this law is fully in effect, displaced persons will be able to use local democracy tools: participate in public hearings, initiate local initiatives, and engage in participatory budgeting. We emphasized the importance of adopting community charters and clarifying the term “resident.”
During the workshops in Poltavska Oblast, the IDP Councils learned how to plan and implement advocacy campaigns to protect IDP rights and influence decision-making at the IDP community level.
? 2 strategic sessions
During these sessions, our teams helped define the vision, mission, and values of advisory bodies, identify key IDP needs, recognize main achievements and challenges in the work of the IDP Councils, and develop strategic and operational plans for the IDP Councils under the Koziatyn City Council and Odesa Raion State (Military) Administration.
? We also supported 71 IDP Council meetings and provided 108 consultations to IDP Council members as part of our mentoring support.
Additionally, we organized 3 webinars for IDP Councils across Ukraine with the participation of experts. The first focused on the Law “On People’s Power” and its key innovations. The second covered IDP Council reporting: we discussed the main stages of the process and report structure. The third webinar centered on how to effectively and engagingly present the Councils’ achievements. Two of these webinars are already available on our YouTube channel, with the third coming soon.
We support IDP Councils through the Support to the Capacity of Government Institutions and Local Communities To Strengthen Social Protection Systems in Ukraine project, implemented with the support of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine
