Seminars, trainings, legal consultations, coordination, and mentoring meetings — in July, we conducted over 80 events as part of our project to support the social protection system: for workers of relevant institutions, displaced persons, affected individuals, and IDP Councils.
Take a look at the photos in the carousel to see how it all went.
We also want to share the key results of our work with you.
In July, we held:
- 6 coordination meetings with the leadership of social protection institutions;
- 7 seminars for social protection institutions;
- 8 awareness-raising and integration events for displaced persons;
- 7 strategic sessions for IDP Councils;
- 8 meetings for communities needing consultations on implementing the social protection system development plan;
- 17 coordination meetings with partners;
- 1,168 legal consultations.
On July 18-19, an oblast Forum was held in Odesa for representatives of IDP Councils, organized by our regional team.
During the two-day event, the participants:
- Established interaction between the oblast, raion, and local IDP councils;
- Exchanged experiences and best practices;
- Identified priority areas of activity for their Councils;
- Developed strategic plans and joint initiatives for better support of IDPs in Odeska Oblast;
- Improved their skills.
Additionally, in July, we delivered 133 bicycles to 13 territorial social service centers in target communities.
For example, service centers in Balakliya and Izyum of Kharkivska Oblast received two bicycles each.
“Bicycles are a great help to social workers who cover significant distances daily to ensure that the most vulnerable groups receive everything they need. They enable more services to be provided and reduce the time needed to deliver food, hygiene products, drinking water, and medications to people with disabilities, IDPs, those affected by hostilities, and the elderly. For instance, 22,565 people live in the Izyumska community, of whom 719 are IDPs. Bicycles ensure mobility and create comfort during this challenging work. Social workers express their deep gratitude to the Foundation for this support,” said Svitlana Ludan, regional project coordinator in Kharkivska Oblast.
Three bicycles were delivered to the Social Services Center of the Novoodeska City Council in Mykolaivska Oblast.
Olha Hostyk, the Center’s director, said, “We want to thank the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” for the bicycles provided to our social workers. This will help them optimize their work and improve the level of service for internally displaced persons, the elderly, and people with disabilities. They will be able to deliver medications and food and fulfill their clients’ requests more quickly. We wish you success in your noble work and look forward to continued cooperation.”
Our analytical work also continues. This year, we are conducting research on local policies and programs in the field of social protection, including for IDPs, as well as monitoring housing programs for displaced persons.
We will continue to assist in improving the social protection system in target communities. These initiatives are being implemented as part of the Supporting the Capacity of the Social Protection System to Register Internally Displaced Persons project, funded by the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
