We believe that partnership always means more than just “one plus one”. Therefore, we are actively establishing cooperation with our partners in the communities: local state authorities and local self-government bodies, oblast military administrations, and their structural units. Since the beginning of the year, our Foundation has signed 4 memoranda of cooperation in Chernivetska Oblast and 1 in the Rozhyshchenska community in Volynska Oblast.
Oksana Ovsiyenko, regional coordinator of the project in Volynska Oblast:
“The main purpose of signing the Memorandum is to establish cooperation to help internally displaced persons living in the community and support the social protection system. As part of the project, social workers, including the Territorial Center for Social Services of the Rozhyshche City Council, will be able to receive technical support, such as bicycles, which will be useful in performing their social assistance duties.
We will also conduct consultations and seminars on the social protection of IDPs for social workers and IDPs in the community, educational integration events for IDPs, and capacity-building activities for the IDP Council. We will monitor local policies and programs with the involvement of the IDP Council to form the framework for its further activities.”
Last year, we signed about 250 memoranda of cooperation in all oblasts of Ukraine, a significant number of them in the regions that have suffered or are suffering from hostilities: Zaporizka (51), Kharkivska (12), and Mykolaivska (14) oblasts.
Key goals of cooperation:
- Holding joint events;
- Implementation of programs and projects in the field of social protection;
- Material and technical support for the social sector;
- Support in the establishment and operation of IDP Councils;
- Provision of advisory and methodological support to employees of social protection institutions;
- Continuous work with the community, including IDPs and other people affected by the war in Ukraine, the elderly, people with disabilities, low-income, and large families.
We are implementing this activity as part of the Supporting the Capacity of the Social Protection System to Register Internally Displaced Persons project funded by the United Nations Refugee Agency in Ukraine (UNHCR).
