As the cold season begins, access to warmth becomes a life-critical issue for thousands of families living near the front line. In the Sumy region, particularly in the Putivl and Chernechchyna communities, many settlements have been affected by hostilities. People are facing winter with damaged homes, disrupted electricity, and limited resources for heating.
To support the most vulnerable households, the project “Winterization support for vulnerable people in frontline at-risk hromadas of Sumska oblast” has been launched.
The goal of the initiative is to provide affected families with the necessary resources for safe and dignified living during the winter months.
Main Areas of Support
Cash Assistance
600 households will receive a one-time payment of UAH 19,400 to purchase solid fuel.
Solid Fuel (Briquettes)
200 households will receive 3.42 tons of briquettes each, delivered directly to their homes. Assistance with unloading is provided for people with disabilities or limited mobility.
Who Will Receive Support
The assistance targets vulnerable households, including elderly people, persons with disabilities or family members with limited mobility, large families, single-parent households, families whose homes have been damaged by shelling.
In total, 800 households — approximately 1,760 people — will receive support to help them survive the winter in warmth, safety, and with a sense of care.
The project is funded by the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund and implemented by Stabilization Support Services (SSS) in cooperation with the Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH).
