Providing the necessary equipment to five displaced social protection departments of the Luhansk region

Our Charitable Foundation provided the necessary equipment for five displaced social protection departments. These departments were previously located in Lysychansk, Rubizhne, and Sievierodonetsk of the Luhansk region, and in the city of Luhansk itself. However, after moving, they now operate in Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih. The work of social protection department employees today, however, is far from easy: they have to deal with a large flow of people every day, register IDPs, and advise them on obtaining assistance from the state. Workplaces are often uncomfortable, and technical support is outdated, making the job of IDP experts more difficult.

Yuliana Hasanbekova, our Regional Coordinator, along with Oleksandra Lytvynenko, UNHCR’s Assistant Protection Officer, visited the displaced departments of the Luhansk region and provided them with sets of laptops, multifunction printers, routers, hard drives, office furniture, and protective screens. This equipment should improve the working conditions of the employees of these public authorities.

“The equipment was used to create 12 workplaces for employees of social protection authorities. As a result, our displaced employees will be able to carry out their duties in a modern environment, to provide quality services to residents of the Luhansk region who had been displaced from the temporarily occupied territory. As we are forced to stay in Dnipro, we have the opportunity to feel the support of our partners. Our cooperation continues,” said Kateryna Bezhynska, Deputy Head of Luhansk Regional State Administration.

Charity Foundation Stabilization Support Services continues to purchase and transfer equipment to the regions under the project “Supporting the capacity of the social protection system of the population regarding the registration of internally displaced persons”, with support from the UN Refugee Agency. The result is improved technical assistance for host communities, the creation of new jobs, and a support network for social protection workers.
