Repairs Have Begun in Zaporizka Oblast — The First Households Already Have New Windows

Thanks to the Strengthening Resilience and Protection of Conflict-Affected Individuals, Communities, and Systems in Central and Eastern Ukraine project, which we are implementing together with the international organization CARE and with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), repairs of private housing have already begun in Zaporizka Oblast. New plastic windows are helping bring warmth, comfort, and a sense of security back into damaged homes.

Yevhen Rasulov, the project’s regional engineer in Zaporizka Oblast, notes, “For many families, even a single new window unit is a step toward restoring a sense of stability and safety. Our team takes a careful approach to selecting and inspecting each household to provide assistance where it is needed most.”

Mariia (name changed for security reasons), a beneficiary, expresses her gratitude, “We lived with plywood-covered openings. I didn’t know where to start. But it’s all different now. They came, took measurements, installed the windows. Thank you for your humanity!”

In total, the project plans to restore 410 homes. This is more than just about repairs. It is about care, community strength, and a dignified life.
