Repairs of Social Laundries Begin in Chernihivska and Sumska Oblasts

Preparations are already underway in the premises where social laundries will operate. The renovation of these laundries has become possible thanks to the Improving Hygiene Access in Shelling-Affected Areas in Sumska and Chernihivska Oblasts by Installing Social Laundries project.

Renovation work is in full swing in the Horodnianska community of Chernihivska Oblast. The social laundry will be located in a building that has not been used for a long time but has been relatively well preserved.

“Each stage of our project is implemented through cooperation and communication with the local authorities of the community. Together, we are achieving our goal — helping people who lack even the basic ability to simply do their laundry,” says Artem Rusin, regional coordinator in Chernihivska Oblast. “We have begun dismantling damaged sections of the floor and pouring concrete. Later, we will level the walls. We are already expecting the delivery of equipment.”

As soon as the renovation is complete, each laundry will be equipped with two washing machines and two dryers, along with everything necessary for clothing care: detergents, cleaning kits, and a laundry cart.

Additionally, the project includes creating three more social laundries in the Sadivska, Boromlianska, and Lebedynska communities of Sumska Oblast.

This project is funded as part of the Localization initiative of the Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH).
