This year, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) celebrates its 30th anniversary of operations in Ukraine. The organization’s work in Ukraine began in 1994. The first project was to support the return of deported Crimean Tatars to Crimea.
The primary mission of UNHCR is to support anyone who has lost their home due to persecution, violence, war, or disaster in their country, helping them defend their rights, access social services, and find sustainable solutions.
The Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” has been working with the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine since July 2022. Within the Supporting the Capacity of the Social Protection System to Register Internally Displaced Persons joint project, we assist social protection institutions across the country in restoring stable operations and optimizing the process of providing social services, particularly to IDPs. We also systematically support communities in integrating IDPs and advocating for their rights.
Our achievements with UNHCR in 2023:
- Provided new equipment to social protection institutions for setting up 1,006 workplaces.
- Offered 26,531 legal consultations to IDPs, affected individuals, and employees of social protection institutions.
- Delivered 500 bicycles to social workers.
- Supported the establishment of 105 IDP Councils.
- Organized 84 strategic sessions for IDP Councils.
- Held 20 forums of IDP Councils.
- Assisted 56 communities in creating social passports and medium-term development plans.
- Produced 60 useful informational materials.
In 2024, we continue to provide institutional support to social protection institutions and implement other project initiatives: offering legal consultations, conducting educational events, advocating for laws and policies important for affected individuals, building the capacity of IDP Councils, helping communities implement social protection system development plans, supporting long-term housing solutions for IDPs, and strengthening the organizational capacity of the Ombudsman’s Office.
We thank the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine for a productive partnership!
