Anna Borysova, Director for Humanitarian Response at CF SSS, participated in a panel discussion held as part of the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Response in Ukraine: Experience and Perspectives workshop, organized by the Handicap International Federation. During the event, issues of accessibility and the path to barrier-free access were discussed.
“In our work, we are guided by the important principle of barrier-free accessibility because every humanitarian organization that helps people must adhere to the basic humanitarian standards that are respected in our Foundation,” said Anna Borysova in her speech. “Humanitarian response must meet human needs. We need to know what people need and how we can provide it to them”.
It is important for the Foundation to communicate information about us and the assistance we provide. We must ensure that everyone who needs help can access information about it. We use three key channels to inform people: the Internet, social workers and social work specialists, and village starostas.
In the course of the discussions, the participants formulated a joint appeal. Its purpose is to define the horizon of the strategy for building an inclusive society in Ukraine for the next 10 years and to provide donors with strategic directions for cooperation with NGO representatives.
