We met Hayane at a handout of family hygiene kits in Chernigiv.
Over the course of her 48 years of life, Hayane has seen two wars. She had once fled the armed conflict in Abkhazia and moved to the village of Novoselivka near Chernihiv. It was there that she found a new home, met her husband and gave birth to four children. Now the youngest child is eight years old, the eldest is 24.
However, in March 2022, the Russian army occupied the village where she lived. Her family was left homeless with their house destroyed. Hayane’s husband was taken prisoner and, unfortunately, has not yet returned. She and her children now live in a collective center in the village of Novoselivka.
However, despite the challenges of her life, Hayane does not give up. Now she is not only rebuilding her life but is also actively bringing about change in her new environment. She advocates for the purchase of generators and improved road quality and helps local volunteers. The woman continues to stand up and improve the living conditions of not just her children but other people as well.
We, the team of the Charity Foundation Stabilization Support Services, have a common goal with Hayane: to help people who remain in Ukraine and to overcome the impact of Russian aggression. Together with the humanitarian organization CARE and the Response Consortium, our Foundation continues the project “Addressing the Urgent Multisectoral Humanitarian Needs of Internally Displaced Persons and the Conflict-Affected Population in Ukraine”, which aims to help 402 thousand people, including 254 thousand IDPs. The program is implemented with the financial support of USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).
