On December 16, the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” distributed nearly 400 kits of thermal underwear for children aged 5 to 17 and adults living in Kherson. This assistance was specifically aimed at those in Kherson who suffered from flooding following the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam.

Among those who received a kit was Maryana Serhieyeva. Her family first endured the occupation, then experienced the plight of internally displaced persons, and now has returned to their home city.

“We managed to leave Kherson after the de-occupation. We lived in Kryvyi Rih for seven months. It was hard to find work and rent housing there, so we had to return to our own home. Unfortunately, a week later, the dam was blown up, and our yard was flooded. Now our house is unfit for living: the walls have crumbled, and our property is destroyed. My parents’ house was also flooded, but it’s not as severely damaged and ruined as ours. So now we’re living with them,” Maryana Serhieyeva shared with sadness.

The aid was provided as part of the Lifesaving and Gender-Sensitive Shelter and Protection Assistance for Conflict-Affected Populations in Dnipropetrovska Oblast in Eastern Ukraine As Well As Rapid Emergency Support to Affected Population in Khersonska Oblast in Southern Ukraine (Destruction of the Kakhovka Dam) project, implemented by the CO CF SSS in collaboration with the international humanitarian organization CARE, funded by the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier in the project, 162 non-food kits have been distributed. The Foundation is also preparing 400 bedding and 215 hygiene kits for the residents of Kherson.
