Training Video Course “IDP Councils: From Adaptation to Impact” — Why It’s Worth Watching. Feedback From IDP Council Chair Tetiana Kirilova

The work and recommendations of IDP councils can serve as a basis for updating local programmes. But how should initiatives be properly formulated, and how can we advocate for important decisions to be taken? We have compiled all the answers in the video course “IDP Councils: From Adaptation to Impact”.

Why is this course worth watching? Here is a review from Tetiana Kirilova, Chair of the IDP Council at the Shyrokivska village council, who has completed the course.

“The video training course ‘IDP Councils: From Adaptation to Impact’ helps to enhance expertise in the field of supporting internally displaced people. The main advantages of the course are its comprehensive coverage of topics (from the establishment and functioning of councils to strategic planning), its practical focus, and its emphasis on fostering dialogue among IDPs, local authorities, and the community.

All the modules of the course are relevant and informative. However, my favourite was the seventh module, ‘From Analysis to Action: The Impact of IDP Councils on Local Policy’.”

It demonstrates a practical transition from gathering information and conducting analysis to implementing change. This issue provides a clear understanding: impact is only possible through systematic work, from researching needs to advocating for specific solutions. Key benefits of the series include: a focus on practical tools, guidance on formulating well-founded proposals for change, and an explanation of mechanisms for influencing local authorities.

This course is useful for anyone who wishes to play an active role in community development and improve living conditions for internally displaced people within the community. I recommend that members of IDP councils, representatives of local authorities, the civil society sector and charitable foundations, as well as IDPs who wish to be involved in community life and influence decision-making, take a look at it.”
