The village of Shevchenkove, located on the border of Mykolaivska and Khersonska oblasts, is under constant shelling. Local residents are trying to repair the buildings destroyed by missiles on their own. Although, sometimes there is nothing left to repair: one family returned to the village, but their house was destroyed by a direct missile strike. And, although the building should be demolished, people are ready to restore it, because they can not fully destroy something that used to be their home.
The scope of work is large, and, at the same time, there are not so many opportunities. For example, the repair requires chainsaws, which are few in the village, however, there is not enough fuel for those that are available. Moreover, there are no communications in the village: no water, electricity and gas. Local residents have nowhere even to buy bread. People are uniting and preparing for the hard winter months together, but they need help.
In partnership with Choose Love, we came to this village and delivered humanitarian kits to the residents of Shevchenkove. We hope that these kits will make it easier for the residents to survive this winter.
