The Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” has already carried out 26 distributions of humanitarian kits within the framework of the project “Meeting urgent multisectoral humanitarian needs of internally displaced persons and conflict-affected population in Ukraine”, implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” jointly with CARE and the Response Consortium with the financial support of USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).
This time help came to Cherkasy, which became a shelter for those who were forced to leave their homes. Regional coordinator of the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” in Cherkaska oblast Maryna Makukha told about one of the distribution of food kits in Cherkasy region:
“This is not the first time we have helped IDPs of this community, so local IDPs already knew us and cordially welcomed us. Moreover, they are new to the city and are sincerely happy when they see familiar faces. It is precious to them that they are not left behind. This time we delivered 53 food kits to people who found themselves in Cherkaska oblast as a result of the Russian aggression. The IDPs appreciated the kits a lot. Although the coordinators warned in advance that the food kits are very large and consist of four boxes with a total weight of 67 kilograms, people were still surprised at how big they are,” – said Marina Makukha.
She also noted that many IDPs arrived quite recently and, unfortunately, were not able to register for the aid in time. “Of course, we could not leave them in a difficult situation, so the next day we opened registration for the next distribution in this community. Also, people who received humanitarian kits asked about the possibility of getting hygiene products, especially diapers for children and adults with disabilities. In the future, we will bring hygiene kits to this community, which should cover this need”.
The Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” continues to help people affected by the war. Taking into account the wishes of the people, we have already increased the size of the food kits and made the hygiene kits more individual and targeting the needs of different categories of the population. The food kits are designed to provide food for a family of four for three months. We have formed hygiene kits based on the recommendations of the WASH cluster, we also distribute children’s hygiene kits with the necessities for babies, hygiene kits for people with disabilities and the elderly and individual menstrual hygiene kits. Our goal is to help 402 thousand people, including 254 thousand IDPs. The project is implemented in selected communities of Chernihivska, Cherkaska, Sumska, Dnipropetrovska and Kharkivska oblasts.
