We Provided 147 Tricycles to Social Protection Institutions in 41 Communities of Kharkivska Oblast

Fast transportation is valuable for social workers who provide services to solitary individuals at home, especially in de-occupied territories. In some communities, social workers have to cover distances of 15–20 kilometers each way to reach their charges – elderly people living alone, people with disabilities, or those in difficult life circumstances. They travel this distance with a full load, as their mission involves delivering food and medicine, sometimes clothing or other household items, and assisting people with domestic tasks

We have purchased tricycles for such communities, allowing for greater mobility. Recently, we have transferred 147 tricycles to 41 communities in Kharkivska Oblast. These convenient bikes with two spacious baskets enable social protection workers to reach their clients faster, deliver essential items, humanitarian aid, and provide social services.

Svitlana Ludan, the regional project coordinator in Kharkivska Oblast, shared:

“Thanks to the received tricycles, the volume of social services provided at home to the most vulnerable segments of the population has significantly increased. The time to visit the affected people in de-occupied territories has decreased, and we can now deliver a larger quantity of essential goods and services. The tricycles are used to deliver food, hygiene products, and drinking water to people with disabilities, the elderly, and the community population affected by hostilities.

This is a superb initiative of the Foundation and a great help to community social workers. From now on, the girls [social workers] will be faster, and the social services more efficient. The tricycles provide mobility and create comfort in their challenging work. Immense gratitude from 41 communities!”

We are providing tricycles to social protection institutions as part of the project Supporting the Capacity of the Social Protection System to Register Internally Displaced Persons, funded by the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
