We Provided Financial Support to 3,000 Individuals

For six months, our team has been traveling and registering people in Mykolaivska and Khersonska oblasts for multi-purpose cash assistance. The assistance was made possible as part of the Providing Multi-Sectoral Humanitarian Assistance to Conflict-Affected Populations in Ukraine project and was intended primarily for vulnerable categories of people who suffered war-related losses and found themselves in challenging circumstances. We have recently completed the last visits and payments, which allows us to summarize the work done.

Project manager Anna Nikolenko-Bayeva recalls that the most difficult part was helping residents living far from regional centers and in less secure settlements, which few humanitarian organizations can access. Since these territories were under occupation or constant enemy fire, the number of people affected by the war was the highest.

“Of course, we wanted to help everyone, but we were not always able to do so: the security situation and the limited resources hindered us.  However, we still found the opportunity and ways to reach people where most people simply do not go. This is something I think the Foundation can be proud of,” says Anna Nikolenko-Bayeva. “It was also difficult because the premises where we conducted registration were damaged as a result of the hostilities, often without electricity or heating.”

We were able to provide support to 3,023 recipients, each of whom received UAH 10,800 in assistance. Among them is Mr. Ivan from the Snihurivska community in Mykolaivska Oblast (name changed for security reasons). His home was damaged by the war, so he is currently staying with friends.

“The registration was well organized, the Foundation’s employees explained everything clearly and did everything quickly. I was really looking forward to the money because, as a result of the war, I have a lot of expenses to restore my home and prepare for the winter,” says Mr. Ivan. “Fortunately, I received it, and now I can buy at least the most essential things. I am very grateful to everyone for this assistance.”

The Providing Multi-Sectoral Humanitarian Assistance to Conflict-Affected Populations in Ukraine project is being implemented by the Charitable Organization “Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” together with the humanitarian organization CARE Ukraine and the Ukraine Response Consortium with the financial support of USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).
