Winterization Humanitarian Kits Distributed to IDPs at a Collective Center in Zaporizhzhia

Internally displaced persons in Zaporizhzhia have received crucial assistance to help them prepare for winter amid a challenging security environment.

In Zaporizhzhia, which faces daily threats of shelling and disruptions in heating and energy supplies, it is especially important to provide people with essentials. On October 24, the first distribution of winterization humanitarian kits took place in Zaporizhzhia.

“We delivered aid to internally displaced persons residing in temporary accommodation centers. Among them are many elderly people, individuals with disabilities, and families with young children who cannot afford to rent accommodation and are currently living in these centers. Given the ongoing shelling and damaged infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia, there is a significant risk of heating and electricity outages. Therefore, we approach the winter season with great concern, fully aware of the necessity for such support. People have expressed their sincere gratitude for the winter humanitarian kits, emphasizing how vital they are in preparing for the cold,” shared Oksana Levada, regional coordinator of the project.

A total of 265 kits were distributed during this first round of assistance. Each kit includes a mattress, sleeping bag, winter blanket, power bank, flashlight, and thermos — items that will enhance safety and comfort during the cold season.

This assistance is provided as part of the Humanitarian Assistance to Besieged Cities and IDP-Hosting Locations Inside Ukraine project, implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” with the support of the international humanitarian organization CARE and financial backing from the Disasters Emergency Committee (UKAID).
