Humanitarian aid was distributed in Zaporizhzhia to IDPs in the Orikhivska community. Kits were distributed for the elderly and people with disabilities, including diapers, gloves, soap, laundry detergent, and more.
“We had a lot of people come to us to receive aid. People were very happy and grateful for these kits. After all, buying such things is not cheap nowadays. These kits are very large and will last for 3-4 months. One box weighs 24 kilograms,” said Oksana Levada, regional coordinator.
Oksana also noted that last week, the Orikhivska community was attacked with guided bombs, so people came in very depressed, and the distribution process took several hours. Because of the bombardments, many people have lost their homes and have nowhere to go.
The Orikhivska community of Zaporizka Oblast is located on the frontline. The area is constantly shelled. Of the six villages in the community, three are under occupation. The latter are Kopani, Nesterianka, and Myrne, while Novodanylivka and Novoandriivka are effectively on the border with the occupied territories. Despite this, almost 2,000 people remain living in the community.
That is why the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” is collecting aid as part of the Lifesaving Response to Protection Risks and Humanitarian Needs of Conflict-Affected Population in South and South-East of Ukraine project, which is being implemented jointly with CARE with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
CARE is an international humanitarian organization that provides emergency response and implements long-term international development projects. Our team has been cooperating with them for a long time.
“Together with CARE representatives, we travel to communities, communicate with the authorities, and learn about the needs of the residents. Then together, we help people collect the necessary things for those who need help now in the frontline areas,” said coordinator Valentyna Kosiuk.
The project aims to quickly respond to the needs of people affected by the war in remote areas of Khersonska, Zaporizka, and Mykolaivska oblasts.
