A key element in assisting conflict-affected populations is providing integration or reintegration services. The Radnyk programme has worked since its inception to provide systematic assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs), and we are proud to expand our programming to include veterans of the conflict in the East.
The main way we are providing reintegration services to veterans is through our Houses of Veterans project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Veterans and regional associations. We have selected partners in Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr and Rivne oblasts (with one more center in Odesa becoming operational soon) to provide a number of services that will be made available to veterans and their families.
Our Support Services
Psychological and Social
Providing psychological, social and rehabilitation support is key to sustainable reintegration, and Radnyk takes this mandate seriously. Through our Houses of Veterans network, we provide opportunities for therapy with certified professionals either individually or in groups. As family plays a large role in reintegration, we also include family therapy in our portfolio.
There will always be at least psychologist on call in each center for emergencies and consultations, and case workers available on a case by case basis.
Legal
The upholding of human rights is paramount, particularly with conflict-affected individuals. To that end we are also offering legal support to veterans and their in need of support to defend their rights and receive their corresponding benefits. This also extends to consultations related to various other legal questions.
Training
Building capacities for self-realization and economic sustainability are target goals for our reintegration processes, and so our Houses of Veterans will be offering training to address these very factors.
Primarily these training will assist veterans and their families with self-employment and entrepreneurship, allowing them to thrive in their local communities and contribute to the local economy. We will expand these training to meet other needs as they are identified.
We are excited to continue our current programming as well as to expand the Houses of Veterans network to new regions in cooperation with new partners. If you are looking to bring Houses of Veterans to your community, don’t hesitate to write us.
