An IDP Council has been created. How can we ensure it works effectively? We analyzed this question in detail during a training session for new Council members, covering the legal status of the Council, its rights, duties, and tasks.
A recording of the webinar is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smJMF1lhV34&t=30s
Together with Anastasiia Serbina, an expert on internal displacement and democratic governance and founder of the AS Training Group, we examined:
- The status and tasks of the IDP Council;
- How to organize the activities of this advisory body;
- The procedure for convening, conducting, and documenting the results of a meeting;
- What you need to know about membership specifics, including administrative positions and the consequences of resignation.
“The effectiveness of the IDP Council is not about the number of meetings held, but about the quality of decisions and knowledge of its powers. Your willingness to learn is the way to ensure that the voices of IDPs are professionally represented and heard in communities,” stated Anastasiia Serbina.
Thank you to everyone who participated and asked questions.
