The Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services,” in collaboration with the international humanitarian organization CARE, continues to provide assistance to the affected people in the south and southeast of Ukraine.
During the distribution of hygiene and food kits in Kryvyi Rih, a local resident, Oksana, reached out to us. She takes care of Svitlana, a woman evacuated by volunteers from Beryslav in Khersonska Oblast.
The woman is 84 years old, and, as it happened, her daughter lives in Kahovka, so she ended up in the occupation zone. Oksana shares that Svitlana waited until the last moment, hoping the city would be liberated and her daughter would come to take her, but while she was waiting, her house was shelled. As a result, relatives sheltered the woman in Kryvyi Rih.
“After the grandmother lived almost two years under shelling, she is now in a depressed state. She can’t see anything, so now we take care of her. As for her daughter, she still remains in Kahovka under occupation, waiting for liberation,” says Ms. Oksana.
Fortunately, the family has maintained a line of communication and regularly stays in touch with the daughter via messaging apps.
Oksana received humanitarian aid through the project Lifesaving Response to Protection Risks and Humanitarian Needs of Conflict-Affected Population in South and South-East of Ukraine, implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” together with the international humanitarian organization CARE, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
A unique characteristic of this project is its ability to provide assistance quickly after shelling in Khersonska and Zaporizka oblasts.
