“Children Were Delighted With the Power Bank” — Olha From Mykolaivska Oblast On Foundation’s Non-Food Kits

The Foundation’s team assisted residents of the Shevchenkivska community in Mykolaivska Oblast with humanitarian kits designed to ease their lives in harsh frontline conditions. These kits include sleeping bags, portable lamps and flashlights, cookware, a gas stove, and more.

Now, Olha’s family, which includes her husband and three children, has received such a kit. Olha mentions that humanitarian aid is distributed very rarely; the last time she received something was for her children six months ago. During the brief occupation, she and her children had to leave, but they returned after the territories were liberated and now need support, as they are restoring their damaged home on their own.

“We liked the entire kit very much, but the flashlight and gas stove are especially valuable to us right now. The children were delighted with the power bank because it is essential for online learning,” says Ms. Olha. “What stood out was that everything was distributed very quickly and politely, and we were treated with respect.”

The assistance is provided within the framework of the Providing Multi-Sectoral Humanitarian Assistance to Conflict-Affected Populations in Ukraine project, implemented by the CF SSS together with the humanitarian organization CARE Ukraine and the Response Consortium. The program is funded by the USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).

In addition to this aid, within the project, our team:

  • Conducts minor and medium repairs of homes damaged by hostilities in Khersonska and Mykolaivska oblasts;
  • Organizes the distribution of multipurpose cash assistance;
  • Provides drinking water to residents of communities that lack it after the destruction of the Kakhovka dam.
