“Cozy, bright, warm”: a young mother about the Foundation’s help

Tatyana (name changed for security reasons) was born in the village of Mykhailivka, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and has been unable to return home since the occupation of her native village. Even before the full-scale invasion, the woman studied at Zaporizhzhia National University, and after graduation, she stayed on as a programmer at the university. Now she, her husband and two-month-old son have found shelter in one of the temporary accommodation centers (TACs) in Zaporizhzhia. After one of the arrivals, the windows in their room were severely damaged. Since Tetiana was on maternity leave and the family was supported by her husband alone, the couple did not have enough money to make repair.

Thanks to the project “Providing vital assistance in winterization, necessities and shelter for the conflict-affected population in Ukraine” implemented by the Stabilization Support Services Charitable Foundation in cooperation with the International Humanitarian Organization CARE.Ukraine and CARE Österreich with the support of NACHBAR IN NOT, the project team installed 15 new windows and an entrance door in this ICC. Tetyana’s family was among those lucky enough to receive help.

“We are very pleased with the living conditions in our ICC. Now that we have new windows, it has become even better, even brighter, and most importantly, warmer. The old windows used to let in the cold, and that was dangerous for a small child. Now I am calm, there will be no drafts in winter and we will live comfortably,” says Tatyana.

At the beginning of the full-scale war, the couple planned to move to another region or even another country. However, she believes that her home village will be liberated.

“I want to live closer to home. There is still hope. In the meantime, thanks to your Foundation, we have excellent living conditions at the ICC, so we are staying in Zaporizhzhia,” the young mother shares her thoughts.
