The team of CF SSS continues to help people living in the areas near the frontline.
In particular, a new project, Provision of Lifesaving Winterization, NFI, and Shelter Support to Conflict Affected Populations in Ukraine, will be implemented in 2024.
The project targets conflict-affected communities, people returning home, and IDPs living near the contact line or in settlements subject to frequent and intense shelling in Khersonska and Zaporizka oblasts.
According to Anna Borysova, Director for Humanitarian Response at the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services”, the main goal of the new project is to continue to combat the consequences of the full-scale war against Ukraine launched by Russia on February 24, 2022.
“The winter season has further exacerbated humanitarian needs. Millions of Ukrainians still remain in frontline settlements, often in damaged houses with no access to heating or electricity. In addition, many internally displaced people still live in poorly equipped collective centers that are not suitable for habitation in winter. Therefore, our team and partners started looking for opportunities to help these people last year. Thanks to international support, we will implement a project that will allow us to at least partially solve household problems in the conflict-affected areas in the east and south of Ukraine by improving their living conditions and security,” says Anna Borysova.
The CF SSS will provide 10 maintenance repairs to social institutions in the target communities as part of the project. In particular, in houses of culture, institutions providing social services, and critical infrastructure. In addition, about 550 non-food kits will be distributed.
Project manager Yuliya Suchok explains, “In terms of repairs, we plan to renovate homes with minor non-structural damage to the roof or windows, etc., as a result of shelling. Particular attention will be paid to households of the elderly, people with disabilities, pregnant women, people who have recently become internally displaced, and survivors of violence and abuse. In total, we plan to provide assistance to more than 5,000 people as part of the project.”
The Provision of Lifesaving Winterization, NFI, and Shelter Support to Conflict Affected Populations in Ukraine project is being implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” in cooperation with the international humanitarian organization CARE with the support of NACHBAR IN NOT.
