Our educational series “IDP Councils: From Adaptation to Impact” is not only engaging but also incredibly useful. The feedback from those who have already watched it confirms this.
Over the course of a month and a half, 255 people have viewed the series. It is especially valuable that both representatives of newly established Councils and leaders of the first IDP Councils are watching it.
Yana Liubymova, Head of the Council on Internally Displaced Persons under the Luhanska Oblast Military Administration, shared her impressions of our educational product:
“The series ‘IDP Councils: From Adaptation to Impact’ is not just a training course, but a powerful tool for everyone working or aspiring to work in the field of IDP rights protection. Its importance cannot be overstated — especially now, when, due to the prolonged war and the restructuring of the relevant ministry, IDP issues risk losing the attention they deserve from the government. This educational product not only provides knowledge but also gives activists the motivation and strength to continue their work.
As the head of Ukraine’s first IDP Council, I particularly appreciate that the series not only explains the concept of Councils but also demonstrates the real mechanisms of their work: how they can influence decision-making, how to build effective communication with local authorities, and which public engagement mechanisms work best. The material is presented in an exceptionally practical manner.
I recommend this course to everyone involved in IDP Councils, local activists, representatives of local self-government bodies working with IDPs, and anyone interested in civic participation mechanisms. It’s difficult to single out just one topic — each episode is important and covers key aspects of effective work. I encourage newly established IDP Councils to pay special attention to the third episode, which provides a deeper understanding of how to develop effective local support programs.
The international community has already recognized Ukraine’s experience in establishing and operating IDP Councils as an effective mechanism for involving displaced persons in decision-making. The model described in this series can be useful not only in Ukraine but worldwide.
I also want to emphasize that the training takes place on the Diia.Education platform — an innovative Ukrainian project that provides access to essential knowledge for anyone striving to grow, acquire new skills, and contribute to community development.
Many thanks to the team at the Charitable Organization “Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” and everyone who contributed to creating this series! Its value for communities and the IDP support system cannot be overstated.”
