Mobile laundry and shower facilities, which for over a year have provided residents of communities in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions with access to proper hygiene, are being transferred to two communities in the Kherson region. Starting next month, they will be operating in the Beryslav and Kherson districts. This transfer of equipment will enable local authorities to independently meet the sanitation needs of the affected population in the frontline area.
According to Anna Borisova, Director of Humanitarian Programs at the “Stabilization Support Services” Charitable Foundation, our mobile complexes were truly unique, as there had never before been equipment of this kind designed specifically for the civilian population to meet people’s basic hygiene needs.
“After the de-occupation and constant enemy shelling, many towns and villages in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions were left completely without water, and all infrastructure was damaged or destroyed. People simply lacked the basic amenities to take a shower or do their laundry. Our facilities operated for six days. Every day, we traveled to a new settlement and gave people the opportunity to wash their clothes and simply take a shower for free. Now, following the successful completion of the project, the mobile units will no longer be in operation. However, their work does not end there. They are currently undergoing technical repairs and will head to the Kherson region to continue their work. They will help maintain hygiene in communities located in close proximity to the front lines,” — says Anna Borisova.

During the project, more than 26,000 people used the services of the mobile complexes. Of these, about 25,000 people were able to wash their clothes for free, and more than 1,000 residents of the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions were able to take a hot shower.
The mobile complex worked as part of a project implemented by the Charitable Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” and the German humanitarian organization “Sign of Hope” with financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).
