The Beryslav community is almost 10 kilometers from the front line. The only thing separating it from the enemy is the river. Often there is no electricity for several days, there are problems with water supply, almost all shops are closed, most houses are completely destroyed, drones fly overhead, and no birds are heard over the constant explosions. But people live here and they need help.
Thanks to the work of the Stabilization Support Services Charitable Foundation, 4 villages of the Beryslav community in Kherson Oblast received humanitarian aid – individual women’s kits. They consisted of the most necessary personal hygiene items for girls and women aged 11-59.
Ms. Marina (name changed for security reasons) is one of those who received our help. The woman came to the distribution center together with her daughter, who graduated from the 6th grade. Her family received 2 sets of personal hygiene kits from our foundation.
“We have been waiting for these kits! There is only one shop in our village. But due to frequent shelling, it is almost always closed. There is no pharmacy or hospital. That’s why my daughter and I have nowhere to buy basic hygiene items, but we need them, just like any woman,” – she says.
Together with her husband and two children, Maryna has a vegetable garden and a farm: a cow and chickens. This is how they live. They receive money for milk and try to feed the whole family. Therefore, any help is always very welcome.
“Thank you very much for not forgetting about us. We are almost living under the bullets, and practically no one needs us. Sometimes it’s scary to go out – there is shelling, or enemy drones are flying. We are afraid for our children. My husband and I almost lost our son once. He came under fire and, fortunately, survived. After that, he decided to become a doctor. He wants to be useful to people, just like your foundation, and save their lives,” – Ms. Maryna shares her story.
Nina Tymofiivna (name changed for security reasons) also received assistance from our Foundation. After the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam, she had to leave her home and move with her family.
“We lived in a village near the hydroelectric power plant. It was on a mountain, so we were fortunately not flooded. But immediately after the flooding there was a shelling. My husband and I were sitting in the cellar and it hit us 100 meters away. It was a miracle we survived! But it was scary to stay there, so we decided to move. It’s quieter than our home, but very hard,” – says Nina.
The woman has a disability and sore feet. She admits that almost all the money in the family goes to her for medicines, which are impossible to get in the village. So when she heard about the help from the Foundation, she was very happy.
“I’ve been treating my legs for many years, but it’s not getting better, it’s getting worse. Last year I had an operation. After it, I could hardly move, and later I started using crutches. In order to walk, I have to take medication all the time. And they are so expensive. We have to save on everything. So your help saves our family. It’s nice to be taken care of. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” – Nina Timofeevna said.
The Charitable Foundation plans to continue to help villages that are as close to the front line as possible. In July and August, it is planned to distribute kits for people with disabilities and people in need of diapers and diapers for adults.
The assistance was made possible through the implementation of the project “Lifesaving Response to Protection Risks and Humanitarian Needs of Conflict-Affected Population in South and South-East of Ukraine” by the CCC Charitable Foundation in cooperation with the international humanitarian organization CARE with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
