Helping Residents of a Frontline Community Prepare for Winter

The first 150 individual non-food item kits have been distributed in the Bilozerska community of Khersonska Oblast. This initiative is part of the Provision of Lifesaving Winterization, NFI, and Shelter Support to Conflict-Affected Populations in Ukraine project. Each kit includes a mattress, sleeping bag, thermal blanket, power bank, flashlight, and thermos.

According to Anna Vasylenko, the regional coordinator of the project in Khersonska Oblast, this assistance aims to help residents of this frontline community better prepare for the winter season.

“The Bilozerska community in Khersonska Oblast was under occupation and continues to suffer from enemy shelling. Currently, many residents here live alone, including elderly people, individuals with disabilities, and representatives of other vulnerable groups. Often, they have no one to take care of them. This is precisely why our project team decided to individualize the non-food item kits,” Vasylenko explains.

She adds that local residents intend to stay in their homes throughout the winter, despite the risks of water shortages and power outages. For these individuals, the items provided will be especially beneficial.

By the end of the year, the team plans to distribute an additional 1,500 non-food item kits: 900 in the Bilozerska community and another 600 in the city of Zaporizhzhia. All registered recipients will be notified of aid distribution through a special SMS message.
