In Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, we have a team of craftsmen who visit households directly. They are not building new houses – they are restoring comfort and a sense of home to those that have been damaged.
They put up curtain rods, set up a toilet cistern, fixed a window, assembled a wardrobe – it seems like small things, but they are the very things that start a new life after evacuation, shelling, and uncertainty.
Ms. Liudmyla recalls how she and her family left Kherson in 2023 with almost no belongings, just a few bags. Now they have a closet. They can hang things up and not keep everything in their bags.
“It’s good that there are people who help in difficult times,”- she says.

In another family, our craftsmen repaired a window that had not been opened for a long time. Afterwards, the owners thanked us sincerely, checked it several times, and still believed that it worked.
“We don’t just fix things. We show that people are not left alone. There is support, and there is someone to help,” – says Igor Evzikov, a technical assistant at the social hub in Mykolaiv Oblast.
“We go out and help, and it gives us a good feeling because we do something useful every day,” – he adds.
The project aims to support people in the simplest things: everyday life, amenities, and the ability to live normally and restore comfort after the war.

The Comprehensive Assistance to Internally Displaced Persons, Non-Displaced Persons Affected by War, and Those Who Returned to Ukraine through the Provision of Protection, Psychosocial and Cash Assistance, Housing, and WASH Services project is implemented by the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” and the German humanitarian organization Sign of Hope, with financial support from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).
