In developing the humanitarian aid kits, the Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” team targets the needs of the residents of the frontline areas by conducting needs assessments. Our goal is to identify the most urgent needs and compile the required humanitarian aid kits.
One of the types of kits is a non-food item kit (NFI). They are designed to help people survive the cold in winter.
“As people’s needs vary greatly depending on the region and time, we conducted a survey involving six thousand people to develop the non-food kits. This allowed us to build upon these needs and collect the most necessary items,” explains Anna Borysova, Director for Humanitarian Response.
Therefore, as part of the Lifesaving Response to Protection Risks and Humanitarian Needs of Conflict-Affected Population in South and South-East of Ukraine project, we have collected NFI kits containing candles, power banks, thermal blankets with pillows and mattresses, and camping gas stoves.
The next stage for the distribution of these kits is registration. When the regional coordinators receive the kits, we will publish questionnaires on our platforms for those who need help. Then, participants will receive an SMS confirming their registration and the location where the kits will be distributed.
“Next time, we plan to conduct a survey in the summer when we will be preparing the kits for the next winter. This way, we will be able to tailor the NFI kits to people’s needs and assist them more effectively,” added Anna Borysova.
The project is being implemented in the settlements of Khersonska, Mykolaivska, and Zaporizka oblasts for people affected by the war. The Charity Foundation “Stabilization Support Services” is implementing it in cooperation with the international humanitarian organization “CARE” with the financial support of Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
